demented? just different.

i asked for something rather unusual - actually VERY unusual - from Papas just this morning. disrespectful? perhaps. here we see how differently the wheels turn in my head compared to him. generational differences, as Anna would call it.

ME: Papas, when you get embalmed, can i have your thingie?
PAPAS: my what?
ME: your thingie.
PAPAS: what? (old man's a taingang kawali)
ME: i said, when you get embalmed, can i have your thingie!!
PAPAS: what's my thingie? (ughh. get a clue.)
ME: your penis.
PAPAS: WHAAAT?!?!?! what are you going to do with my...???
ME: nothing, i'm just going to display it on a pedestal and say, "this was my father's thingie!"
PAPAS: you're crazy! that's cannibalism!
ME: what?! i'm not going to eat your thingie! XD
PAPAS: ano ka ba?! para namang hindi ako nagsisilbi sa simbahan!

oops. i forgot about that. but nowadays, there's never a dull moment when it comes to family inheritance! and i just thought it would be refreshing, to inherit Papas'... thingie. people only say it's strange because it's out of the question in terms of culture... culture this, culture that. COME ON, you people!

i just heard a public service announcement on the radio that attempts to pull the audience back to christianity. i swear, it's the most restricting thing ever. some of the lines i remember:

we have failed to discipiline our children, and called it "thinking for themselves."
we have forgotten the value of chastity, and called it "liberty".
we have neglected the old traditions of the Church, and called it "enlightenment".

lord, help us to rediscover the path to your kingdom. help us to open our eyes into your most holy presence, that we may see clearly what is real and what is good.

...

that's christianity for you.

no comment. NO COMMENT! :/
